Wait, is this a food or travel blog? Yes.

Travel on Friday and Saturday was very exhausting. Had to drop off George at the kennel first thing Fri morning and he was anxious as always in the car, which made me more anxious. To top it off, the Uber Pet driver we had wasn't aware that he had opted in to be an Uber Pet driver and was telling me how much he doesn't like taking fares with pets. WTF? Of course I let Uber know so the same thing doesn't happen to somebody else.

The process through O'Hare was fairly uneventful, and I had a kick-ass salad at Rick Bayless's restaurant (I don't think I've ever said that about a salad), and the flight on KLM to Amsterdam was nice, but it was soooo hard to sleep overnight. Somehow, my Fitbit thinks I scored a 72 sleep score, but I don't think I went to sleep at all and was completely drained today, and had to push through.

Landed in Amsterdam and had 5 hours to kill (KLM lounge is decent), then my flight to Prague was delayed a bit, but I finally got to my hotel around 3pm.

The hotel is meh--very tiny shower and the shower doors have about a 1 inch gap between them, which means I create a pool of water on the floor every time I take a shower. No fan or AC and a heated towel rack that doesn't work. The shower situation is pretty status quo for Europe as they haven't figured out how to construct a decent shower that doesn't create a mess and slip hazard. 🤷‍♀️

I've been following the Timeshifter app since the 13th to try to prevent jet lag, but nothing can prepare you if you don't sleep at all on the overnight flight, and I couldn't drink caffeine past 1:00 p.m. per the app guidelines. I explored the area surrounding my hotel,
...then treated myself to a nice dinner that night at a place I had reserved several months ago after seeing it on Instagram. The restaurant, called Terasa U Prince, is known for their rooftop view of Prague's Old Town Square
...and the meal definitely did not disappoint. I enjoyed grilled octopus and an aperol spritz to start, followed by tagliatelle with autumn truffle, and a very unique dessert with a chocolate shell, white chocolate mousse and a fruity center that looked like the yolk. It was delicious! The meal including tip was a less than $65. In Chicago it probably would have run me at least $100. I've learned from Rick Steves to always pay in the local currency, because you typically end up saving money.

Had a great night's sleep after that, but I'm already missing Georgie 😔. Thankfully, he seems like he's having fun at the kennel (yes, I've been watching him on camera again.)

Going to explore the city on my own today before I have to meet up with my tour group at 3:00 p.m. Already ran into some of them in the hotel lobby last night. Hoping they're all cool and none of them are grumpy!
